EQUIPMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE

What to check before buying equipment

Choose equipment by application, capacity and operating requirements, then compare the proposed models on the same basis.

Choose equipment by application, capacity and operating requirements, then compare the proposed models on the same basis.

Define the job the machine must do

Describe the input, required output and working conditions. For a food machine, that includes the ingredient and desired cut or texture. For a pressure washer, it includes the cleaning tasks and expected use. For refrigeration, it includes the goods, usable capacity and required temperature range.

Compare like-for-like specifications

Ask for the exact model and its relevant technical information. Distinguish usable capacity from overall dimensions and normal operating figures from headline maximum ratings. Confirm what the supplier means by the quoted capacity and whether it fits your intended application.

Check the site requirements

Review power supply, motor requirements, water, drainage, ventilation and access for delivery. Measure the installation space and allow for safe operation and maintenance. Confirm who is responsible for installation and any necessary site work.

Identify every included component

List attachments, blades, fittings, guards, tables, hoses, cables, manuals and initial consumables as relevant. Ask which parts are necessary for operation but priced separately. A clear packing list makes it easier to compare quotations and check the delivery.

Discuss servicing before purchase

Ask about maintenance needs, spare-parts availability, operator guidance and warranty arrangements. Establish how a fault would be reported and who would assess it. Check whether support is supplied remotely, through the supplier or by a separate local service provider.

Request a quotation you can review

Send your application, required output, site information, quantity, budget and destination. Ask for the exact model, inclusions, delivery scope and other costs to be clearly stated. Where useful, request demonstration material or a sample result for the proposed equipment.
